Elizabeth C. “Betty” Nelligan

  Elizabeth C. “Betty” (MacLeod) Nelligan, 88, of Chelmsford, died Thursday, October 18th at Lowell General Hospital following a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Nelligan, who died in February of 1979.
  Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on September 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and the late Catherine (Harrington) MacLeod. She attended St. Peter’s Grammar School in Lowell and was a graduate of the former Keith Hall in the Class of 1948.
  Betty was employed for more than 40 years at Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Senior Staff Accountant in the Accounting Office of Lincoln Laboratories in Lexington, prior to her retirement.
  Always very active in her community, she was a member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club, the League of Catholic Women, the Red Hat Society, and the  Association of MIT Retirees.
 Among her many enjoyments, Betty loved spending time with her family and friends. 
 Betty is survived by a sister, Marion A. MacLeod of Lowell; two brothers, Thomas M. MacLeod and his wife Rae of Lowell, MA, and Paul F. MacLeod and his wife Molly of Vancouver, WA; a sister-in-law, Joan MacLeod of Deerfield Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
 She was also sister of the late John P. MacLeod and the late Richard J. MacLeod and sister-in-law of the late Constance MacLeod.
 Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 1 to 5 P.M. on Sunday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Monday morning at ST.
