Beloved father, grandfather, in-law, uncle and friend

 

Lawrence K. “Larry” Stowell, 84, a well-known and well-liked member of the community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 21, 2021 at D’Youville Senior Care surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of the late Eileen M. (McDonald) Stowell who died in 2005.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, March 26, 1937, the son of the late Frederick C. and the late Mary (King) Stowell, he attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School and was a graduate of Keith Academy Class of 1955.

Following his service with the National Guard he went on to graduate from Lowell Technological Institute in 1973 (nka U/Mass Lowell) with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and was also  a member of the school Golf Team.

Prior to his retirement, Larry was the General Manager for M.F. Horan Company where he worked for over 45 years.

He was a longtime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister, a Senior Server and a longtime member of the parish golf committee.

Active in the community, Larry was a Past President and coach of Pawtucketville Youth Organization (PYO).

A talented golfer, Larry was a Past President, longtime Board member and a Life Member of Long Meadow Golf Club. In addition, he was former player and committee member of the Lowell City Golf Committee for many years.

He is survived by his daughter Christine Coomas and her husband Michael of Dracut; two sons John L. Stowell and his wife Margaret of Hollis, NH and Craig M. Stowell and his wife Stavroula of Westford; seven grandchildren J. Bradley Stowell and his wife Kati, Erin Stowell, Lauren Coomas, Corinne Coomas, Evan Stowell, Eleni Stowell and William Stowell; three sisters-in-law Elsa Stowell of North Chelmsford, Janeann Kay of Chelmsford and Margaret Mary Hinde and her husband Timothy of Billerica; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his siblings Frederick Stowell, William Stowell, Paul Stowell, Frances Harrington, John Stowell, Raymond Stowell and Robert Stowell.

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL on Sunday July 25, 2021 from 2 to 5 P.M. His Funeral Mass will follow on Monday at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH in LOWELL at 10 o’clock followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. E-condolences/directions at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com.
