Catherine V. “Kay” Cashman

 
 Catherine V. “Kay” (Cavanaugh) Cashman, 91, of Lowell, died Sunday, October 5th at Lowell General Hospital/Main Campus following a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late James L. Cashman who died October 23, 1979.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, June 28, 1923, the daughter of the late Michael and the late Elizabeth (O’Connor) Cavanaugh, she attended Lowell schools, the Pawtucket Jr. High School later renamed McAvinnue Jr. High School, Bartlett Jr. High School and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1941.
 Prior to her marriage to James, Kay was employed as a Ladies Sportswear Buyer with the former Bon Marché and a Ladies Ready Wear Buyer with the former McCartney’s Clothing Store, both in Lowell. Before retiring, she was a Sales Clerk at the former Calvert’s Department Store in Tewksbury.
 Kay was a lifelong active parishioner of St. Rita Parish in Lowell where she was also a member of the Women’s Club and past Treasurer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also active in the PTA at the Pawtucket Junior High School and when it was renamed the McAvinnue School in Lowell and in the Mother’s Clubs at Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua and Keith Hall in Lowell.
 Kay is survived by a daughter M. Elizabeth “Liz” Cashman of Naples, FL; a son M.J.J. “Michael” Cashman of Lowell; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; her godchildren; and many friends and their children.
 She was also sister of the late Eleanor “Helen” Coutu and her late husband Rodolph, the late Elizabeth “Betty” Savage and her late husband Edward and the late Mary Mitchell and her late husband Thomas and sister-in-law of the late Margaret Farrell.
  Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher in Lowell from 2 to 6 P.M. Monday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Tuesday morning at ST. RITA PARISH in Lowell at 9 o’clock. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
