Widad (Ansara) BattenBeloved mother and sister;Widad (Ansara) Batten, 76, of Lowell, died peacefully Saturday February 7, 2015, at her home.Born in Bethlehem, Palestine, July 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Issa and the late Mary K. (Kuttab) Ansara, she received her educationin Palestine. She later emigrated to the Unites States with her family on June 25, 1956.Widad worked for several years, most notably, as an assembler in the electronics industry.An active and loyal member of her church, she belonged to St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Church in LowellShe enjoyed being with family and friends, especially when she was cooking for family gatherings.An engaging personality with a contagious laugh, Widad loved to meet people and made those around her feel welcome and comfortable.She will be deeply missed.Widad is survived by her beloved son Mark P. Batten and his fiancée Barbara Gerardi of Lowell; two sisters Nahil Zananiri of Lowell andHuda Diekmann of Evansville, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.She was also the sister of the late Mounir, Saliba, George, Juliette Ansara and the late Laurice Bahou.Batten – In Lowell, MA February 7, 2015, Widad (Anasara) Batten, 76, at her home.
