George G. McMahon
Retired carpenter, U/Mass Lowell;
George G. McMahon, 85, a member of a well known Greater Lowell family, died Sunday morning at Fairhaven Healthcare Center in Lowell with is loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Cynthia M. (Zoltek) (Boisvert) McMahon, who survives him.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, the son of the late Francis P. and the late Irene (Johnson) McMahon, he attended Lowell schools and Lowell High School.
A hard worker all of his life, George was a Produce Manager at the former Purity Supreme for over 25 years. He went on to be the manager at the Quik Check in Nabnassett Lakes for several years.
Prior to his retirement, George was a carpenter with the Maintenance Department at U/Mass Lowell for over 17 years.
A big Red Sox fan, George loved to play pool with his friends and go dancing and to bingo with his wife Cynthia. He was also a member of the H. E. Fletcher Club in Westford and the S.A.C. Club in Lowell.
Besides his wife, George is survived by six sons Thomas J. McMahon and his wife Mary of Winnisquam, NH, Michael McMahon of North Carolina, John R. McMahon of Bolton, George G. McMahon, Jr. of Ohio, Peter K. McMahon of Lowell and Paul E. McMahon of Keene, NH; 22 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers Gerald F. McMahon and his wife Frances of Lowell and Robert J. McMahon and his wife Audrey of Lowell; four sisters Rita Burk of Lowell, Esther Peavey of Tewksbury, Shirley Mello of Lowell and Irene Shaughnessy of North Chelmsford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Francis J. “Mac” McMahon and the late Beverly J. Flood and brother-in-law of the late Robert Shaughnessy, the late Edward Burk, the late Edward “Ned” Flood, the late Leo Mello and the late Alden Peavey.
