Ruth D. Burns

Loving mother and grandmother;

Ruth D. (I’Anson) Burns, 89, for many years a resident  of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, died Thursday April 9th 2015 at Lowell General Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Philip G. Burns who died in 1995.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, March 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Harold and the late Hazel (Muldoon) I’Anson, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Prior to her retirement, Ruth was a secretary in the Clerk’s office at the Lowell District Court where she worked for over 25 years. Previously, she also worked at the former Courier Citizen in Lowell.

She was a communicant of St. Rita Church in Lowell.

Ruth had several interests among them, going to bingo, playing keno and trips to Foxwoods with family and friends. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxilliary for the V.F.W. Walker Roger’s Post 662 in Lowell.

However, her favorite time was spent with her children and their families.

Ruth is surived by two daughters Beverly Bourque of Brookline, NH and Brenda Bellerose of Winchester; her son Bruce P. Burns of Lowell; 11 grandchildren Donald L. Bourque , Jr. and his wife Michele, Eric Bourque, Robert E, Burns, Jr., Kelly Burns, Douglas Burns and his wife Crystal Derek Burns and his wife Jen, Heather Slane and her husband Trevor, Philip Bellerose, Tami and her husband Scott and her husband Robert Lee, Angie Estright and Bruce P. Burns, Jr.; her sister Joan Palavras and her husband James of Chelmsford; three sister-in-laws Ruth I’Anson of Chelmsford, Margaret Burns of Dracut and Beatrice Burns of South Carolina; a brother-in-law Walter Burns of Lowell.

She was also the mother of the late Robert E. Burns, grandmother of the late Beau James Bellerose and sister of the late Harold I’Anson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Tuesday morning at St. Rita Church in Lowell at 11 o’clock. Burial to follow at the Lowell Cemetery. E-condolences/directions at Arrangements by the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME – LOWELL (978 or 866) 458-8768.
