Evanthea “Eva” Phasoulas
A legacy of service, over 30,000 volunteer hours with Community Teamwork, Inc.
Evanthea “Eva” Phasoulas, 96, a lifelong resident of the Acre Section of Lowell, died Friday, April 17th at Heritage Nursing Center in Lowell.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Peter and the late Panagiota “Penny” (Kazis) Phasoulas, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
Before retiring, Eva was employed as a waitress at the former Epicure Restaurant, a downtown Lowell landmark at the time. Previously, during World War II, she worked at the Remington Armory where she loaded bullets for our servicemen.
She was a member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell and of the Philoptochos Society.
Dedicated to others, Eva donated much of her time to several charitable and service organizations throughout her life highlighted by over 30,000 volunteer hours through Community Teamwork, Inc. in Lowell
Among her many activities, Eva was former President of the Army and Navy Auxiliary, a member of the Lowell Senior Citizen’s Center, was a volunteer at the Merrimack Repertory Theater, the Lowell Memorial Auditorium and the Coalition for a Better Acre.
Eva is survived by several nieces and nephews; several grand nieces and nephews; her close friend and caregiver for over 15 years Lynne Brown – Zounes and her family, her dear friend Beverly Ghareeb all of Lowell.
She was also sister of the late Mary Soukaras, Anna Girouard and Charles Phasoulas.
Relatives and friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 10 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. Tuesday morning.
