Janet P. Frawley
Well known businesswomen, champion of cancer research fundraising, 56;
TEWKSBURY - Janet P. (Phaneuf) Frawley, 56, of Tewksbury, beloved wife of David F. Frawley, died peacefully Wednesday, July 1st 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a long illness, during which time she never gave up.
Born in Lowell, November 17, 1958, Janet was the daughter of the late Raymond V. and the late Diane E. (Cullinan) Phaneuf, whom she deeply missed until the day she passed away. A graduate of Dracut High School in the Class of 1976, she went on to graduate from Castle Junior College in Windham, NH and Lesley College in Cambridge, MA.
A self-employed owner and sales manager for Diamond Business Products of Dracut, she enjoyed the many challenges of being a business owner.
Janet loved spending time with her family and friends, going for hikes in the White Mountains, traveling to New York City for Broadway shows, and enjoying quiet times relaxing at the beach. She was an avid runner having completed both the Boston and New York Marathons. Her more recent pursuits included watercolor painting, swimming at the Lowell YMCA, and working in her garden.
For many years Janet dedicated her time to several charitable organizations. She raised funds for the research laboratory of Dr. Kenneth C. Anderson, MD at the Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute in Boston. Additionally, she frequently donated platelets for 15-years at the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center, and attended numerous Annual Team-20 Brunches hosted by the Kraft Family. Janet and her husband established a fundraising Team called the Platelet Peddlers and personally lead the group during many Pan Mass Challenge 200-mile bike rides from Sturbridge to Provincetown, MA. The Team continues to participate in the PMC race to this day under their new name Patriots Platelet Peddlers. Janet formerly sat on the Boards of Directors of The Visiting Nurses Association of Lowell (now known as Circle Home), the Washington Savings Bank of Lowell, and the Brush Art Gallery and Studios in Lowell. She worked tirelessly organizing many fundraising events for these programs.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 20 years––David and her stepchildren; Catherine and Jay McCloy of Newburyport; Kelly Gilet of Westford; and David and Jennifer Frawley, Jr. of Defiance, MO; and her grandchildren; Dylan and Meredith McCloy; Mitchell and Paige Gilet. She will be dearly missed by her devoted sister Melody Phaneuf of Gloucester and her partner, Martha DiMeo; her brothers Professor Raymond Phaneuf and his wife Cristina of College Park, Maryland, and Rome, Italy and John E. Phaneuf and his wife Lee Ann (Booze) of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews John Jr. and his daughter Mia, Sara and her son Joey, and Jessica, and Thomas. Janet will be affectionately remembered and greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her, including the Farrell family.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Visitation at the Family Residence, 1423 Andover St. in TEWKSBURY from 3 to 8 P.M. Friday. A Memorial Mass will be will celebrated on Saturday July 11th at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (Lower Church) in Lowell at 10:30 A.M. Committal Services will take place at a later date.
