Marcel R. BergeronMarcel R. Bergeron, 92, of Lowell, died Thursday, October 29th at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marion (Walwood) Bergeron with whom he celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on July 5th. Marcel was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, September 27, 1923, the son of Joseph and Helene (Jean) Bergeron. He attended Elementary School at Saint Jeanne D’Arc in Lowell and high school at the Oblate Seminary in Bar Harbor, Maine. He went on to graduate from Merrimack College, earned an MBA from the Boston College School of Business Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Bentley College. A veteran of WW II, Marcel proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal before being honorably discharged in 1948. Marcel retired from the Raytheon Corporation after 25 years of service in Andover and as a Corporate Tax Accountant at their corporate office in Lexington. In his early career, he worked at the Bank of Montreal in their Montreal and New York offices. Among his many activities, he loved classical music and art, and read literature in a number of different languages. He also enjoyed jogging, golf, and tennis. In addition to his wife, Marcel is survived by a daughter Bette Ann Callaghan and her husband David of Foxboro, MA; a son Mark Bergeron of Vancouver, WA; a granddaughter Genevieve Callaghan of Boston, MA; two sisters Teresa Congelio of Canfield, OH and Yolanda Pishing of Cleveland, OH; and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Jeanne Bixby and Joseph Bergeron, Jr. The members of the Bergeron family wish to thank the staff of Circle Home Health and Hospice Care for the wonderful kindness and considerate care they provided to Marcel and his family. Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated Monday morning at ST. MARGARET CHURCH in Lowell at 10 o’clock. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
