Joseph D. “Joe” Walsh

loving husband, father, grandfather and brother;

Joseph D. “Joe” Walsh, 86, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of the City, died Wednesday November 11, 2015, at D’Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Kathleen A. (Watson) Walsh with whom he recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in May.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 31, 1929, the son of the late John A. and the late Mary (Hart) Walsh, Jr., he received his education in the Lowell school system.

A veteran of World War II, Joe proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.

Prior to his retirement, Joe was a field service technician with the 3M Corporation in Chelmsford for many years. Previously he worked at Honeywell Corporation in Lawrence.

An ardent New England sports fan and a man of many interests, Joe enjoyed walking throughout Pawtucketville where all his neighbors knew him, swimming in Long Pond at the Fleur de Lis and reading.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter Lucy Walsh of Pepperell; a son Donald D. Walsh and his fiancée Sarah Toney of Lowell; a grandson Ian Harrison of Pepperell; his brother John A. “Jerry” Walsh, III of Lancaster, PA and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Anna Katherine Brown.

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated Monday morning at ST. RITA CHURCH at 10 o’clock. (Please meet at church).
