Michael F. Szuksta, 97, formerly of the Belvedere section of Lowell, died Monday, April 4th at Lowell General Hospital – Main Campus. He was the beloved husband of the late Mildred F. (Boston) (McCormack) Szuksta and the late Blanche (Label) Szuksta.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, January 2, 1919, a son of the late Michael C. and the late Felicia (Kanuvice) Szuksta, he received his education in the Lowell school system. A veteran of World War II, Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 101st Infantry and attained the rank of Sergeant. Before retiring, Mike was the owner and operator of Merrimack Window Cleaning of Lowell and was also employed as a custodian at Lowell Cooperative Bank for over 50 years. Among his many activities, he was an avid fisherman and especially loved playing cribbage. He was a member of the American Legion Post 437 in Nabnassett, the Polish American Veteran’s Club in Lowell and the Disabled American Veterans. Mike is survived by two step-daughters Kate McCormack of Long beach, CA and Ann Walker and her husband Clint of Huntington Beach, CA; a step-son Roy M. McCormack and his wife Michele of Oregon; his nephews Walter F. Szuksta and his wife Lisa and Raymond J. Scanlon and his wife Gail all of Dracut, MA, Robert Malavich and his wife Ann Marie and Thomas Malavich all of Lowell, MA and Richard Malavich and his wife Donna of Nashua, NH; a brother-in-law Clifford C. Boston and his wife Jeannine of Lowell, MA; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also brother of the late Sophie Malavich, Walter F. Szuksta and Helen Scanlon and uncle of the late William Malavich, Jr. In keeping in accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Friday afternoon at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in Lowell at 1 o’clock. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial in Holy Trinity Polish Cemetery in Lowell.
