Frank L. Polianites

U.S. Army WWII Veteran, 90

 Frank L. Polianites, 90, of Lowell, died Monday, August 1st at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell.

 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, September 3, 1925, a son of the late Elias and the late Vasiliki (Doublos) Polianites, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
 

A veteran of World War II, Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre as a Sergeant in Company B, 1689th Engineer Combat Battalion.

Before retiring, Frank was employed as a Security Officer at U/Massachusetts Lowell as a Security Officer. Previously, he worked as a carpenter for the former Suburban Dairy for many years.
 

A lifelong bachelor, Frank was a devoted son to his widowed mother and to his sisters.

An avid horseman, he helped train thoroughbreds who ran at the New England tracks. Frank was also a longtime member of Longmeadow Golf Club and an enthusiastic golfer.

 In his later years Frank delighted in working in his vegetable and flower garden, whose bounty he shared with his neighbors.  
 

Frank is survived by two nieces Barbara A. Kleynen and her husband Kenneth of Ayer, MA and Kathleen “Kitsy” Durkin and her husband Tipper of Dracut, MA; two nephews Louis Polianites and his wife Gayle of West Newfield, ME and James L. Polianites of Newton, MA; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and a great-grandniece and great grandnephew.

He was also brother of the late Katina Sintiros, Alexandria Polianites, Elene Polianites, Anne Polianites, Evangelos Polianites and James L. Polianites.

Relatives and friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at FLETCHER from 4 to 7 P.M. on Thursday. Funeral and Committal Services will be held privately.
