Roy C. Silman

Loving husband, father and uncle

Roy C. Silman, 83, of Westford, a retired Engineer with AT&T, died Saturday morning at Emerson Hospital in Concord surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Shirley E. (Boden) Silman with who he recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 13, 2016.
Born in New York City, New York on March 21, 1933, the son of the late Herman and the late Martha (Boy) Silman, he attended New York public schools and was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School.
Roy went on to attend City College of New York where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He continued his education by attaining his Masters in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army.
In 1995, Roy retired as a Senior Engineer from AT&T in North Andover after over 46 years with the company.
In addition to a successful professional career, Roy kept quite busy with a wide array of interests. He enjoyed gardening, especially roses, home improvement projects, reading and travelling along the New Hampshire seacoasts on day trips with family and friends.
An avid New England sports fan, he had a special interest in both the Red Sox and the Patriots.
However, Roy will best be remembered as a loving husband, a wonderful father and a loyal friend whose family visits and time spent with dear friends will be greatly missed every day.
Besides his wife Shirley, Roy is survived by a daughter Diane E. King and her husband Mark of Hudson, NH; a son Roy A. Silman and his wife Heather of Concord, NH; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call for a Memorial Visitation at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in Lowell from 2 to 4 P.M. Thursday. Funeral and Committal Services will be private.
