Aglaia “Eia” B. Ploubides, a long-time resident of Tewksbury, MA passed away peacefully on October 23, 2016, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late John Ploubides. Born October 4, 1924 in Brattleboro, Vermont, the daughter of the late Christy and the late Effie (Mitchelides) Ballas, Eia attended school in the Brattleboro school system. She went on to attend the University of Vermont after which she transferred to the University of Denver, where she received her B.S. in Biological Sciences. After completing her undergraduate degree, Mrs. Ploubides moved to Boston, where she worked for the VA Hospital in Jamaica Plain as a Radio Isotope researcher, and later worked part-time as a hematologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lowell. In addition, she continued her passion for education, focusing on the Fine Arts. Eia took numerous classes in Art at Chamberlayne Junior College, Boston University and Northeastern University. In her second career, Eia pursued her love of art and decorating, teaching interior design for Sears Roebuck & Company, as well as owning her own interior design business. She was a long time member of the James McNeil Whistler House, the Lowell Art Association, the Tewksbury Garden Club and the Hellenic Orthodox Church Holy Trinity of Lowell. She was also the sister of the late Yonnie B. Houpis. Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday morning at the HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY at 11 o’clock. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will follow at the Edson Cemetery.
