Elizabeth M. NangleBeloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend;
Elizabeth M. (Leahy) Nangle, 91, a lifelong resident of the Highlands section of the City and a member of a well known Greater Lowell family, died Tuesday morning at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late William F. Nangle, Sr. who died April 13, 2012.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, January 23, 1925, a daughter of the late John J. and the late Elizabeth (Power) Leahy, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1942. Early in her career she worked at the former Lowell Electric Light Company for several years. Elizabeth was a lifelong communicant of St. Margaret Church and a member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality. The matriarch of her family, Elizabeth led a vibrant life and truly enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by three sons William F. Nangle, Jr. and his wife Lois of Dracut, Joseph M. Nangle and his wife Judy of Westfield and David M. Nangle and his longtime companion Donna Rignoli of Lowell; two daughters Elizabeth M. McKiernan and her husband Thomas of Lowell and Susan M. Langathianos and her husband Thomas of Guilford, NH; 14 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; three sisters Elinor O’Connor of Lowell, Marilyn Gill and her husband Peter and Joan Lenzi and her husband Albert of Lowell; two sisters–in-law Gloria Leahy of Lowell and Martha Leahy of Nashua, NH; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also the mother of the late John J. Nangle, grandmother of the late Matthew C. Nangle and sister of the late Daniel P. Leahy, Esq. who died August 10th 2016 and the late John J. Leahy who died November 22, 2015. The members of the Nangle family wish to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at D’Youville Senior Care for the outstanding compassion and care that was given to their mother during her stay there. Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 3 to 8 P.M. Friday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Saturday morning at ST.
