Nikolaos “Nick” Papageorgiou 

Retired Director of Refrigeration for Market Basket; 

Nikolaos “Nick” Papageorgiou, 62, of Hudson, NH, died Saturday evening after an extended illness at Boston Medical Center with his loving family by his side. 

He was the beloved husband of Mary (Chouprakos) Papageorgiou, with whom he celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on September 16, 2016. 

Born in Athens, Greece, March 3, 1954, he was the son of the late Thrasivolos and the late Aikaterina (Aggelopoulos) Papageorgiou. He received his education in Athens, Greece.

Nick served as a member of the Greek Army from 1974 to 1978. After his marriage, he moved to the United States. Having worked at Market Basket for more than 30 years, he retired as the Director of Refrigeration.  

Nick had a variety of interests in his life including his love for cars, Greek music,football and fashion. He also enjoyed traveling to Greece to visit with family and friends. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren and especially enjoyed being with them to watch the New England Patriots win their 5th Championship. 

In addition to his wife, Nick is survived by his daughter Caterina Papageorgiou-Perry and her husband Joel Perry of Dracut; his son George Papageorgiou of Hudson, NH; three grandchildren Marina, Reyna and Niko Perry; his sister Maria Konidakis and her husband John of Greece; his brother Adonios Papageorgiou of Greece; his dear sister-in-law’s Sandra Koller and her husband Brian of Dracut, Joanne Chouprakos of Naples, FL, Sophia Crawford of Lowell and her late husband Robert and Lisa Coupe and her husband Stephen of Hudson, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

Nick was also a proud and dedicated member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.

The family would like to thank the staff at Boston Medical Center for the care, kindness and devotion shown to Nick. 

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. Thursday morning followed by his Funeral Service to be held at the TRANSFIGURATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH in Lowell at 12 Noon. Burial will take place at the Westlawn Cemetery.
