Carol A. Smith

Loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt

Carol A. (McDermott) Smith, 77, of Hollis, NH, died Wednesday, March 8th at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Kevin P. Smith, Sr. who died April 6, 1999.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, December 17, 1939, a daughter of the late Henry and the late Emily (McNamara) McDermott, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1957 where she also served as the Colonel of The Girl Officers.
Before retiring, Carol was employed as a Hearing Specialist for the Lowell public schools. Previously, she was a Nurse’s Aide in the maternity ward at the former St. John’s Hospital in Lowell, a job she truly loved.
Among her many interests, she enjoyed knitting, attending the Boston Pops concerts during Christmas and had a passion for clothes shopping whether it be live or catalogue. She was also an avid New England Patriots fan. Above all else though, being all about family, she cherished the quality time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.
Carol is survived by three sons Kevin P. Smith, Jr. of Deerfield, MA, Philip H. Smith and his wife Rachelle of Moultonborough, NH and Sean J. Smith and his wife Erica of Hollis, NH; six grandchildren Shannon Gilbert, Kevin Smith, III, Daniel Smith, Madison Smith, Caroline Smith and Kaylee Smith; two sisters Joan Griffin of Exeter, NH and Joyce Saboliauskas of Chelmsford, MA; two brothers Henry McDermott and his wife Judy of N. Andover, MA and William McDermott and his wife Mary Ellen of Rye, NH and many nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late Mary Alicia Smith.
Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in Lowell from 1 to 4 P.M. on Sunday.
