Thérèse M. Farrell, 90, a lifelong resident of the Acre section of Lowell, died Monday, April 24th at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell.
 
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, September 1, 1926, a daughter of the late Richard A. and the late Mary (Harrigan) Farrell, she attended St. Patrick Grammar School and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Girl’s High School Class of 1943.

Eager to pursue a career in teaching, she went on to graduate from Emmanuel College in Boston with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. She then received her Master’s in Theology and Divinity from Boston College.
 
Before retiring, Thérèse was employed as a school teacher in the Lowell public school system for over 25 years. Previously, she worked as a missionary teacher in New Mexico. In addition, she was a former member of the Sisters of Notre Dame Religious Order.

Thérèse is survived by a sister-in-law Margaret “Midge” Farrell of North Chelmsford, MA; several nieces and nephews including Rosemary Carroll of Corryton, TN, Eileen M. Demers and her husband Earl of Strafford, NH, Maureen Geisinger and her husband Greg of Mont Vernon, NH, Colleen Winn and her husband Joe of Hudson, NH, Ginger Canavan and her husband Bob of Andover, MA, Sister Helen Ann SND of Ipswich, MA and Mary Gail Keefe and her husband John of Dracut, MA; additionally, many more nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and dear friends.

She was also sister of the late Sister Kathleen Mary SND, Irene M. Riley, Constance LaPlace, John B. Farrell, Richard J. Farrell and William A. Farrell and their families who survive them.

Thérèse’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Willow Manor and Compassus Hospice for their care, compassion and concern during her stay there.

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 9:30 to 10:30 on Friday morning followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at ST.
