Marie K. McNamara, R.N.
Marie K. (Brady) McNamara, R.N., 91, of Dracut, died Sunday, September 10th at Rivercrest Wellness & Rehab Center in Concord, MA with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late George L. “Paddy” McNamara who died December 16, 1982.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, December 28, 1925, the daughter of the late James F. and the late Mary A. (McDermott) Brady, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1943. Eager to pursue a career in nursing, she then went on to graduate from St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 as a Registered Nurse.
Before retiring, Marie was employed as an Obstetrics Nurse in Labor and Delivery at Lowell General Hospital for over 20 years. Previously, she worked in that same capacity at the former St. John’s Hospital for over 30 years.
Among her many interests, Marie enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a member of the St. John’s Nurse’s Alumnae Association, a member of St. Rita’s Cadets and was a volunteer at New England Pet Partners in Pelham, NH. However, her greatest joy was being all about family and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie is survived by four daughters Kathleen DeLong of Dracut, MA, Maureen Bellefeuille and her husband Robert of Dracut, MA, Colleen McNamara-Dusti and her husband Jeffrey of Shirley, MA and Sheila Gilbert of Manchester, NH; a son Michael J. McNamara of Porter, ME; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also mother-in-law of the late Richard DeLong and sister of the late Charles J. Brady and the late James H. Brady.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass on Friday morning at ST. FRANCIS CHURCH in Dracut at 10 o’clock.
