Elaine and the Abrams family, I just got the sad news. Joe and I went back to his hiring as ED at Nashua Housing Authority. Will miss his sense of humor and willingness to teach others how to live honestly.

Abrams, 76, of New London, Connecticut, formerly of Lowell, died Monday, December 18th at Hartford Hospital in Hartford. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Nancy (Brennan) Abrams who died in 2002.Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 20, 1941 a son of the late George and the late Marie J. (Johnson) Abrams, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1958.Before retiring, Joseph was employed as an Executive Director with the New London Housing Authority from 2006 to 2009. Previously, he served in that same capacity from 1980 to 1991 at the Nashua Housing Authority in Nashua, NH and was also a former News Director with the Lowell radio station WCAP and a member of the Lowell School Committee in the 1970’s.Joseph is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Madden and her husband David of Lowell; two sons Joseph G. Abrams and his wife Erin and Gregory T. Abrams and his wife Nicole all of Lowell; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister Beverly Patsourakos of Lowell; and his significant other Elaine Maynard Adams of New London, CT along with her daughter Jennifer Adams of Cranston, RI.Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at SAINT RITA PARISH in Lowell at 10 o’clock followed by burial in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell.
