Kathleen B. “Kathy” (Gilday) Murphy, 65, of Merrimack, NH, formerly of Lowell, died Friday, February 2nd at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 19, 1952, a daughter of the late Stephen J. and the late Eileen R. Eager to further her education, she then went on to graduate from Framingham State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, U/Mass Lowell with a Master of Arts Degree in English and Fitchburg State College with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Literacy.
Before retiring, Kathy was employed at Greater Lowell Technical High School for 40 years as a teacher, department chair and Director of Title I Services. After her retirement, in order to continue her love of teaching, she worked for Middlesex Community College at Lowell High School for the Outward Bound Program.
Among her many interests, she loved flower gardening, reading, taking frequent nature walks with her dogs and her many trips to Florida with her closest friends. However, her greatest joy was the quality time she was able to spend with her family and friends.

McMeniman and his wife Holly of Lowell, MA; four nieces Jill M. Christiansen and her husband Niels of Lowell, MA, Erin C. I knew Kathy from when we were kids in the old neighborhood- North Common, and St. Patrick’s CYO. I had the privilege of reconnecting with her six years ago when I returned to Lowell and began working at GLTECH. During that time, we shared many memories, laughs, good times, and conversation. In addition to her strong intellect, I was in awe of her decorating and gardening abilities. She was such a fashionista! Her sparkling blues eyes and beautiful smile were unforgettable, but most of all, in knowing her over the past few years, I was reminded of her generous spirit and kind heart. RIP dear friend.
