Attorney Robert C. McDonald
Retired Defense Attorney;
Attorney Robert C. McDonald, 74, of the Pawtuckeville section of Lowell, passed away Wednesday July 15, 2020 at Lowell General Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Juliette H. (Boisvert) McDonald, who survives him and with whom he celebrated 43 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, September 21, 1945, a son of the late Leo G. and the late Catherine L. (Carey) McDonald, he received his education in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, NH with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Bob went on to receive his Juris Doctorate in Law from Suffolk University in Boston.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Bob proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp where he received several medals and commendations among them the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Prior to his retirement, Bob, who was a highly respected lawyer for over 40 years, was a Criminal Defense attorney in the Lowell District Court and later a Defense Attorney in the Lowell Juvenile Court..
Bob had several interests outside of his career including touring New England, walking, boating and long car rides.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister Louise Leonard of Lowell; a niece Catherine L. Urbaniak of Chelmsford; and many dear cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated Monday morning July 20, 2020 at ST. Ann Serna Casey
Retired Dracut School Teacher;
Ann Serna Casey, 89, a member of a well-known Greater Lowell family and a highly respected educator, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Friday July 3, 2020.
She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 1, 1931, the daughter of the late William F. and the late Helen W. (Murningham) Casey.
A graduate of St. Michael’s Grammar school in 1946, Ann continued her education at Keith Hall, Class of 1950, Lesley College in Cambridge, Class of 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She went on to receive her Masters in Education from Boston University in 1959.
Prior to her retirement, Ann was a school teacher in the Dracut School system having taught Kindergarten and elementary students for many years.
A devout Catholic, Ann was a communicant of St. Marguerite D’Youville Parish in Dracut, the Poor Clare Guild and also served as a recruiter, a member of the Catholic Daughters, Guild Captain and Auxiliary member with the Hudson New Hampshire Oblate Retreat House.
Active with her community, she was a member of the Dracut Library, the Dracut Friends of the Elderly and the Dracut Council on Aging.
Ann was also a member of the Massachusetts and the National Teacher’s Associations.
She is survived by her aunt Mary J. Coupe of Lowell and many beloved cousins.

Antonia Housianitis
Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend;
Antonia (Kasimatis) Housianitis, 95, resident of Windham Terrace and formerly of the Highlands section of Lowell, MA, passed away Wednesday afternoon July 1st at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH with her loving family by her side.
She was the loving wife of the late John Housianitis and was a long-time member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell.
Born in Athens Greece, July 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Elias and the late Stamatina (Protopsalti) Kasimatis, she came to the United States with her children in August 1970 to join her husband in Lowell, MA.
At a very young age, Antonia traveled to Australia with her mother to join her father who had immigrated there before them. The family returned to Greece when she was 9 years old and she completed her education there. After her father’s death in 1940, her mother and 3 younger siblings moved to the island of Kythira where they stayed until the end of the war.
While in Greece, she worked for the Department of Social Services until she came to the United States. Antonia worked in various jobs, but her most recent and fulfilling position, after she retired, was as an office assistant for an engineering consultant.
She loved her family here and in Greece and adored her two grandchildren. She also missed her beloved Greece and was looking forward to visiting there almost every summer. Her greatest pastime was playing cards with friends and family.
Antonia is survived by her daughter Anastasia Papadopoulos and her fiancé Tyler Dunn; Arthur Housianitis and his wife Alexandra; two grandsons Stephen Papadopoulos and his fiance Brennie Mejia and Jason Papadopoulos and his wife Katrine; a great granddaughter Sylvi Papadopoulos; a sister Mary Magganians of Greece; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Emanuel Kasimatis of Greece and the late Michael Cassim of Australia.

James L. Powling Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend;
James L. Powling, 61, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband of Elaine A. (Grigg) Powling, who survives him and with whom he recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.
Born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, September 15, 1958, a son of the late William B. and Elizabeth (Powling) Curtis, he received his education in the Lowell school system.
During his career Jim was a Home Health Care provider and previous to that was a shipping manager for Cobham Microwave for many years.
Among his several interests. Jim enjoyed horses, football but most importantly being with his family.
Besides his wife, Jim is survived by four daughters Heidi M. Hughes and her husband Joseph of Lowell, Jessica I. Gilkes and her husband Lionel III of Clarksville, TN, Kimbly A. Picot and her husband Orlando of Manchester, NH and Dakota J. Parmelee and her husband Michael of Franklin, NH; 14 grandchildren; five sisters Joanne Curtis of Nashua, NH, Jean LaMarche of Lowell, Arlene Curtis of Nashua, NH , Ruthann Santiago and her husband Jose of Providence, RI and Heidi Curtis of Lowell; two brothers William Curtis and Edward Curtis both of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
