Eleanor Cecelia Roop, R.N.

 
 Eleanor Cecelia (Spillane) Roop, R.N., 79, of Watertown, formerly of Radford, VA and Lowell, MA, died Wednesday, September 16th at Watertown Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Lincoln Roop who died in 2009.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 22, 1935, the daughter of the late Paul M. and the late Theresa G. (Curtin) Spillane, she attended St. Patrick Church Grammar School in Lowell and was a graduate of Keith Hall in Lowell. She then went on to graduate from Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
 Before retiring, Eleanor was employed as a Registered Nurse at Radford Hospital in Radford, Virginia for many years.
 Eleanor is survived by a brother John B. “Jack” Spillane and his wife Michaela of Watertown, MA; a stepdaughter Debra Neves and her husband Richard of Blacksburg, VA; a sister-in-law Patricia Spillane of Lowell, MA; and three nieces Mary Theresa Spillane of Watertown, MA, Melissa Gnyp and her husband David of Charlotte, NC and Stephanie Spillane of Watertown, MA; 
 She was also sister of the late Paul J. Spillane, L.P.D.
 In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday morning at OUR LADY HELP OF CHRISTIANS CHURCH, 573 Washington St, Newton, MA at 10:30 A.M. Retired Postal Clerk

 
William J. Roy, 99, a lifelong resident of the City, died September 2, 2015, in Lowell surrounded by his loving family.
 
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 17, 1916, the son of the late Joseph G. and the late Margaret F. (McAleer) Roy, he was a parishioner of the former St. Jean the Baptiste Church in Lowell.

Bill attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1933.
 
Prior to his retirement, he was a Postal Clerk for over 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service.  Working at the post office, he got great pleasure using his foreign language skills to help customers with their postal needs.  As a postal employee, during WW II, he also translated documents for the US military. During his retirement, he devoted his time to his beloved garden.  He designed flowerbeds and pathways to create lovely garden rooms. 
 
Bill was a member of the Poor Clare’s and AARP, he was also a member of the retired Federal Postal Workers Association.
 
Bill is survived by many nieces and nephews, among them Susan (Lowell) Williams and her husband Lionel of Carlisle; and a grandnephew Jeffrey C. Williams of Lowell.  He was also the brother of the late Madeline G. Roy, the late Rita E. Lowell and the late Robert D. Roy.

Regina M. Oteri

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend

Regina M. (Ahearn) (Loreto) (Ferbert) Oteri, 73, of Lowell, died Friday evening at her home in Lowell surrounded by her loving family.

She was the former wife of Alfred R. Loreto, and wife of the late Richard A. Ferbert and the late Anthony Oteri.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, December 9, 1941, the daughter of the late Herbert L. and the late Rita (Boyle) Ahearn, she received her education in the Chelmsford school system.

Prior to her retirement from Lowell General Hospital, Regina was a Rehabilitation Counselor at the Tewksbury Rehabilitation Center.

Proud of her Irish heritage, Regina enjoyed Irish music, travelling, and bingo. However, what brought her the most joy was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by seven children, Patricia A. Cloutier and her fiancé John Morin of Lowell, Deborah A. Provencher of Grafton, Vickie R. Coderre and her husband Jeff of Dracut, Richard A. Ferbert of Leominster, Shawn F. Ferbert and his fiancée Penny Smith of Hudson, NH, Christine R. Ferbert and Keith A. Ferbert both of Lowell; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; six sisters Marylou Prescott and her husband Bob and  Barbara Gagnon and her husband James of Chelmsford, Marie Lessard and her husband Brian of Kingston, NH, M. Patricia Karl and her husband Edward of Missouri, Rita De’Vincentis and fiance Kevin Zappelli of Pepperell and Gail Thompson and her husband William of Missouri; two brothers John Ahearn and his wife Jeanne Mantarion of Hampton, NH and Bernard Ahearn and his wife Mary of Farmington, NH; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her dear friends at the Town House of Lowell.

She was also the mother of the late Nancy Grace Oteri and sister of the late Frederick, Herbert, James, Jr., Daniel and Edward Ahearn and the late Joan Simpson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Funeral Mass Friday morning at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in LOWELL at 10 o’clock. (Please meet at church). Edward Arthur Glasheen, Sr.

Beloved, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend;

Edward Arthur Glasheen Sr., 85, of Seabrook Beach NH and Safety Harbor FL passed away suddenly on August 30, 2015 at his home.

He was the beloved husband and college sweetheart of Barbara M. (Burke) Glasheen having just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 20th.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, May 4, 1930, the son of the late Harry and the late Anastasia (Welch) Glasheen, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate from Lowell High School in the Class of 1949. Ed was also a star athlete in high school as a member of both the track and baseball teams.

Ed went on to graduate from Lowell Technical Institute (nka U/Mass Lowell) in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering.

Prior to his retirement in 1992, he worked as a Production Manager at BLH Electronics in Canton MA for many years.

An avid pilot, golfer, reader, painter, and “inventor” in his retirement, Ed also supported the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Rays. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family who will miss him dearly.

He is survived by Edward Glasheen Jr, and his wife Diana (Doyle) of Belgrade ME, Marigail Glasheen of Merrimack NH, Timothy Glasheen and his wife Jeanne (Tourville) of Pelham NH, Thomas Glasheeen Sr. and his wife Susan (Finn) of Hudson NH, and Richard Glasheen and his wife Carol (Leary) of Hudson NH. He also leaves nine grandchildren Kelly (Glasheen) Freitas, Drew Glasheen, Katie Glasheen, Thomas “TJ” Glasheen Jr, Brett Glasheen, Molly Glasheen, Sarah Glasheen, Hannah Glasheen, and Alicia Glasheen.  He is also survived by his brother Richard and his wife Rita of Smithtown, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Henry and sister Mary Lang.

Friends may call for a Memorial Visitation at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 9 to 11 A.M. Thursday. His Memorial Funeral Mass will follow at ST.
