Charles P. Patsourakos, Esq.

Retired Clerk Magistrate, Member of a well-known Lowell family;


Charles P. Patsourakos, 94, of Kissimmee, Florida, formerly of Lowell, Massachusetts and Chelmsford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully Tuesday December 3, 2019 in Florida, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

Born (November 21, 1925) and brought up in the Acre section of Lowell, a son of the late Peter K. and the late Demetroula (Troubetaris) Patsourakos, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1944.


A veteran of World War II, Charles proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army serving with the 69th Infantry Division, 272nd Regiment, 81st Mortar Company where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge.


After the war, Charles continued his education at Boston University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1951 and his Juris Doctorate from Boston University Law School in 1953. He was sworn in as an Attorney on October 30, 1953.

Charles served in the Massachusetts Judicial System for over 47 years, first in the Lowell District Court for 39 years and then as Civil Clerk Magistrate until his retirement.

A loving family man who modeled the virtues of hard-work and integrity for his children, Charlie was an avid reader of historical non-fiction.  Abraham Lincoln was his hero and he read many biographies of Lincoln throughout his life.  Charlie was also a lover of poetry, both reading and reciting.  Some of his favorite poems were Crossing the Bar, In Flanders Field, and To An Athlete Dying Young.  His favorite speech was the Gettysburg Address, which he would recite from memory, much to the delight of those listening.

He is survived by his wife Lillian (Carignan) Patsourakos of Florida; his son Peter Patsourakos of Kissimmee, FL and his wife Jyoti;  his two daughters Stephanie Patsourakos of Ipswich, MA and her wife Catherine; and Deena Ronayne of Aberdeen, SD and her husband Robert; a sister Frances Patsourakos of Lowell; a brother George P. Patsourakos and his wife Elaine of Billerica; a sister-in-law Beverly Patsourakos of Lowell; two special cousins George Scagos and Cynthia Natsios, and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Vasilios P. Patsourakos, Esq., Xanthe “Pat” Mangiavas, James P. Patsourakos, Mary Patsourakos and Ann Hatziolos, and his cousin William Scagos.

The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice (especially Agnes) and Visiting Angels (especially Junior) for their compassion in caring for Charlie.

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

Virginia M. (Shea) Geary, 94, of Lowell, passed away Monday morning, on her 94th birthday, at Lowell General Hospital with her family by her side.

She was the loving wife of the late Thomas F. Geary, Sr.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, December 2, 1925, a daughter of the late Daniel J. and the late Mary E. (Eastham) Shea, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1944.

Prior to her retirement, Virginia was employed at Marshalls Distribution Center in Woburn. Previously, she was a well-known “lunch lady" in the Lowell school system for many years.

Virginia enjoyed playing cards and making chocolates for family and friends. She was most happy when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Chan and her husband Christopher of Orlando, FL, Susan A. Woodland of Littleton, MA and Kathleen Geary of Andover, MA; a son Thomas F. Geary, Jr. of Lowell, MA; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; a brother Daniel J. Shea and his wife Karen of Texas City, TX and two brothers-in-law, Roger Laferriere of Terre Haute, IN and Brendan Powers of Silver Spring, MD, along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was the mother of the late Richard D. Geary and the late Michael J. Geary. She was also predeceased by five sisters; Rita Shea, Dorothy (Donald) Cohn, Ruth (Thomas) Morton, Barbara Laferriere, Elizabeth Powers and two brothers; Donald (Muriel) Shea and Paul (Evelyn) Shea.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, Tuesday morning, Dec. 10 at 10:00 o'clock, followed by burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Luis Angel Ortiz passed away surrounded by loving family and friends on Tuesday November 19, 2019 at Lowell General Hospital.

A resident of Lowell, MA, he was born on August 7, 1966 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, the son of Luciano Ortiz and the late Gladys Hernandez.

He received his education in the Lowell School System and was a well known amateur boxer and DJ.

He is survived by his 6 children, Gladys Ortiz, Chasitidy Frias, Yanirah Ortiz, Luis Angel Ortiz, Jr., Venices Ortiz, and Kyamar Ortiz, all of Lowell, Ma; his 6 Grandchildren; a sister Carmen Ortiz of Lowell, a brother Alexander Ortiz of Amesbury, Ma; and several nieces and nephews.

Luis was predeceased by his loving brother Luciano Ortiz, Jr.

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother sister and friend.

Eva R. (Gosselin) (Anton) Godbout, 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday November 13, 2019 at Wingate at Belvidere surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, June 30, 1930, the daughter of the late Hormidos and the late Laudia (Pomarleau) Gosselin, she attended Chelmsford schools and was a graduate of the Lowell Trade School (aka Greater Lowell Technical High School).

Prior to her retirement, Eva was an electrical assembler for Wang Laboratories.

Eva is survived by three sons Joseph T. Anton and his wife Pauline of Nashua, NH, Robert F. Anton of Dracut and Michael C. Anton and his wife Andrea of Dracut; three granddaughters Laurie Haas of  Hinsdale, NH, Lisa Poitras and her husband Michael of Dracut and Cassera Anton of Dracut; a grandson Adam Anton of Lowell; seven great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a sister Shirley Shea of Lowell; and many loving  nieces and nephews.

She was the wife of the late Carroll P. Anton, the mother of the late Daniel and David Anton and sister of the late William Gosselin, Edward Gosselin and Dorothy McQuarrie.
