David E. Totton
Beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend;
David E. Totton, 62, of Lowell passed away unexpectedly Thursday night at Lowell General Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 2, 1956, a son of the late Vernon and the late Rita M. (Evans) Totton, he received his education in the Lowell school system.
David was a Supervisor with United Installations, an office furniture company, in North Chelmsford.
He was passionate Patriot’s fan but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
David is survived by four daughters Tina Cruz of Lowell, Kellie Baule and her husband Allan of Tyngsboro, Tara O’Hearn and her husband Ryan and Kerri Julia and her husband Edwin all of Lowell; six grandchildren David, Lexi, Jillian, A.J., Nathan and Alissa; his longtime soul mate Mary A. Marcouillier of Lowell; a sister Gail Byam of Dracut; two brothers Thomas F. “Tucker” Totton of Lowell and Vernon S. “Red” Totton of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Nancy Desmond, Robert V. Totton, Stephen P. Totton and William Totton.
At his request there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Funeral Mass to be celebrated at ST. Lucille B. Gilcreast
Beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend;
Lucille (Beaulieu) Gilcreast passed away on March 1, 2019 at D’Youville Life & Wellness Community in Lowell MA. She was the widow of William J. Gilcreast Jr., sharing 49 years of marriage until his death in 1996.
Lucille, the second oldest of six children was born on May 20, 1918 to Leo H. and Robea (Ducharme) Beaulieu of Lowell, MA. She graduated from St. Louis de France elementary school and Lowell High School. Lucille obtained a BS in Modern Languages from Boston University in 1940, and a Master of Library Science in 1964 from Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles, CA.
Mrs. Gilcreast lived in Nashua NH after having lived in Washington DC, Oregon, California and Illinois. Her husband’s business and military moves shaped her varied careers. She taught French and Spanish at both the elementary and secondary levels. During WWII and the Korean War, she worked as an analyst/translator for the FBI and the ASA in Washington DC and Fort Devens, MA. She also worked as an entomologist for Miriam Webster’s International Dictionary. As a volunteer, she helped establish and re-organize several private school and parish libraries.
Lucille held membership in the BU Alumni Association, and the American Association of University Women, Nashua Senior Center and Middlesex Women’s Club of Lowell. She had many interests, especially a love of music having studied classical piano for many years. Lucille was very fond of opera and piano concerts. She also enjoyed many different word games and crosswords.
Lucille loved to travel with her husband throughout Europe, Canada and the Caribbean Islands. A lover of animals, she enjoyed the company of cats and dogs, and with her husband playing golf and horseback riding. She was also loyal to the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Mrs. Gilcreast was pre-deceased by siblings and their spouses, Col. John Julien Beaulieu and wife Grayce, Cms. Paul Andre Beaulieu and wife Sachiko, Gabrielle Healy and husband Robert, Doris Spencer and husband Burdell a sister-in-law Jeannette (Landry) Beaulieu; and a god-son Alex B. Haas; and her in laws James E. and Mary F. Gilcreast and John J. and Eleanor (Gilcreast) Stafford.
Survivors include a brother, Cdr. Maurice E. Beaulieu of VA, two God-daughters, Bonnie B. Haas of Brewster, MA and Mariann (Duggan) Lonewan of Chelmsford, MA, a God-son Daryl B. McGill, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews of the Beaulieu, Stafford and Gilcreast families. Lucille also leaves a special friend, Gloria Sprague of Nashua, NH.
Lucille would like to thank those who assisted in her care at D’Youville Senior Care, the former Chelmsford Crossings as well as Circle Home Hospice. She was also grateful to her primary caregiver of many years, her husband’s nephew, Brian J. Stafford who fondly shared “Of course, she wrote her own obituary.”
At her request, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Friday April 26, 2019 at ST. Harry S. Vassilakos
Loving husband, father, brother and friend;
Harry S. Vassilakos, 63, of Lexington, but for many years a resident of Lowell, passed away peacefully Saturday April 13, 2019 at Golden Pond Assisted Living Facility in Hopkinton, Massachusetts with his family by his side after a long battle with Chronic Lyme Disease .
He was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. (Dunleavy) Vassilakos with whom he recently celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 2, 1955, a son of the late Gregory H. and the late Effie (Koukias) Vassilakos, Harry attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1973.
He continued his studies at U/Mass Lowell where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and went on to Babson College where he attained his Masters in Business Administration in 1979.
Harry stayed active in helping others through his mentoring of graduate students at U/Mass Lowell business school as a member of their Advisory Board. He was also a former member of the Parent Board at Lawrence Academy.
An accomplished golfer, Harry was a member of both the Lowell High and U/Mass Lowell golf teams. Harry followed his passion for golf throughout his life as a former committee member for the U/Mass Lowell golf tournament and enjoyed playing and winning several charity golf tournaments over the years including his beloved Pawtucketville Open.
Prior to his retirement, he was the Director of Sales and Development at Atlantic Gelatin/Kraft Foods where he worked for over 35 years.
Through his position with Philip Morris and later Kraft Foods, Harry helped in funding for the Arts in New England including the Wang Theatre, Alvin Ailey Dance Troupe, the House of Hope, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, UTEC and helped spearhead the National Youth Sports Program at U/Mass Lowell.
Among his many interests, Harry had a real passion for music and attended several concerts over the years with his wife, family and friends.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Alexandra G. Vassilakos of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters Mary Ann Olivera and her husband Anthony of Twenty Nine Palms , CA and Valerie Arsenault of Andover; a brother Stephen G. Vassilakos of Paris, France; two sister-in-laws Eileen Sharples Dunleavy of New Bedford, MA and Joan Gatzimas of Westford; a brother-in-law James Dunleavy of Capitan, NM; several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
