Thomas I. Leavitt, Jr.

Beloved brother, uncle and friend;

Thomas I. Leavitt Jr. of Saco, Maine, formerly of Lowell, MA, passed away Friday March 26, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, September 26, 1952, the son of the late Thomas I Leavitt, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Murphy) Leavitt, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1970.

Tom is survived by his sisters Mary Beth Leavitt of Saco, ME and Sheila (Leavitt) and her husband Marc Lauzon of Old Orchard Beach, ME; three brothers: Richard Leavitt and his wife Gail of Westborough, MA, Daniel Leavitt and his wife Patricia of Milton, MA and John Leavitt and his wife Sally of Saco, ME; his loving nieces and nephews: Ashley Caswell, Kaila Miller, Patrick Leavitt, Matthew Lauzon, Kelly Leavitt, Daniel Leavitt, Alexandra Leavitt and Hannah Leavitt; his great nieces and nephews and also his many wonderful friends with whom he looked forward to spending time.

He was also the brother of the late James Patrick Leavitt.

Tom worked at Avco/Textron as a CDL truck driver and as a Foreman at Lowell Lumber.

He loved all the New England sports teams especially the Red Sox and the Patriots.   He was a proud champion of the much coveted annual “Leavitt Family Pick Pool.” Tom was a lot of fun. He was positive, funny, non-judgmental and a listening-ear to all. The phrase most often said about him was “Tom is such a great guy” … and he was!  He hosted the annual family Christmas extravaganza which no one ever missed.

In his younger years, Tom thoroughly enjoyed his classic cars and going out fishing on his boat.

He will be sorely missed by so many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service to be held on Saturday April 3rd, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Lowell at 11 o'clock. To the Leavitt family I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was a good friend, when he moved to Maine I would go and pick him up and bring him to Lowell to see his friends. I miss his conversations during our ride from Maine to Lowell and back and I miss him today. May the good lord bless you all during this difficult time and may my good friend rest in peace. Respectfully Kevin D Ryan
