Pota "Pat" (Kalivas) Bernier
Beloved aunt,
Pota "Pat" (Kalivas) (McNulty) Bernier, 98, of North Chelmsford, formerly of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late James McNulty and the late Roland K. Bernier.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 24, 1922, she was the daughter of Greek immigrants, the late Antonios "Anthony" and the late Stavroula "Stella" (Lazaropoulos) Kalivas. She was raised in Lowell and attended Lowell High School.
Before retirement, Pat was an assembler with the Honeywell Corporation in Lowell. She also worked at Matrix Technology in Hudson, NH, and in her younger days she worked at Hanscom Air Force Base repairing Jeeps.
Pat was a wonderful cook. She especially enjoyed preparing a variety of Greek foods for her family and friends. However, her real joy in life was spending time with her extended family. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.
She is survived by her niece Sheila Anderson-Sweeney, who has been like a daughter to her, and Sheila’s husband Laurence E. Sweeney, and their son Stephen M. Sweeney, with whom she has resided for many years; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; two sisters-in-law Maria “Mary” Kalivas of Lowell and Helena "Bunny" Gagne of Worcester, and a brother-in-law David Bernier and his wife Linda of Grafton.
She was predeceased by her sisters Bessie Mentas Nicholson, Georgia Chicres and Helen Anderson, and her brothers George, Theodore and John Kalivas.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Merrimack Valley Hospice for their personal care, compassion and concern for their aunt Pat.
All services were previously held privately for the family with a Funeral Service at the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity followed by burial in the Westlawn Cemetery.
