Harry L. Stamas
Faithful church steward and family man;

Harry L. Stamas of Tyngsborough passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, just a few days short of his 84th birthday.

Harry leaves behind the love of his life, Christine (Chiklis) Stamas, with whom he was happily married for 61 years.

Living most of his life in Lowell, he graduated from Lowell Public Schools and Burdett College in Boston with a degree in Business.

He honorably served in the National Guard for 9 years beginning at the age of 15 and was proud to say that the country was never attacked during the years that he served.

A loan officer in the credit union at Polaroid and Wang for many years, who eventually reached the level of vice president, he will forever be known as a man who was truly loved by everyone who knew him.

Harry lived his life in selfless service to his family at home and to his church, the Transfiguration of our Savior, in Lowell. Serving on the Parish Council for 40 years, and as its president from 1989 – 1992, singing in the choir and working the Grecian Festivals for over 30 years, he epitomized what it means to be a good, Christian husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His signature humor, kindness, and love will be missed by many.

Besides being with his family and working for the church, Harry enjoyed working around the house, landscaping, gardening, and painting. He also enjoyed playing various sports, watching all New England teams, reading, and listening to music. Harry was most happy when he was helping others.

In addition to his wife Christine, he is survived by his sons, Louis, Fr. Christopher and his wife, Penny, and his daughter, Sandra, and her husband, Marc Gulezian. Harry found tremendous joy in being a grandfather and he will be missed deeply by them.  Stephanie, Olivia, and Zachary Gulezian, as well as Christiana and Elaina Stamas truly adored their Pappou and cared for him throughout his illness. He leaves behind his brother, Jim, and his wife Ann, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Louis P. and Esther (Kostoulakos), and his siblings, George and Peter Stamas, and Stella Couris.

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL on Tuesday, October 26, (his birthday) from 4 to 7 pm.  Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service on Wednesday October 27, 2021 at the Transfiguration of Our Savior Church, Fr. John Sarantos Way, in Lowell at 11 A.M.

  Dear Stamas Family, When I think of Harry, I can’t help but be flooded by special memories. He always made going to church events entertaining…what a phenomenal and witty sense of humor.
