Johanna T. "Jody" O'Hearn

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend;

Johanna T. "Jody" (Tighe) O'Hearn, 70, a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday December 6, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife for over 49 years to Peter T. O'Hearn, who survives her.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, May 20, 1951, the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas J.G. Tighe and the late Barbara (Buckland) Tighe, she was a graduate of the former Rogers Hall in Lowell Class of 1969. Jody went on to graduate in 1973 from Lowell State Teacher's College (nka U/Mass Lowell) with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Later, she received her Master's in Education from Cambridge College.

Prior to her retirement after a long and dedicated career in public education, Jody was a library media specialist at Lowell High School and later at the Tenney school in the Methuen school system. She began her career as an X-ray technician at St. John's Hospital in Lowell (nka LGH - Saints Campus).

Among her many interests, Jody was an accomplished skier and shared her love of skiing by serving as the Varsity Ski Coach at Lowell High School for several years and as a 25 years member of the National Ski Patrol in Quechee Vermont. In addition, she was a professional riding instructor and exhibitor of horses at the Whippoorwill Farm in North Andover.

However, Jody's greatest love was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She, with her husband Peter, chose interests and activities that were family oriented. Over the years, they created many great family memories at their home in Quechee, Vermont.

Besides her husband, Jody is survived by four sons Shaun O'Hearn and his wife Kristie Langone of Wilmington, MA, James O'Hearn and his wife Amanda of Lowell, MA, Patrick O'Hearn and his wife Erin of Charlestown, MA, Thomas O'Hearn of Lowell, MA; two daughters Molika O'Hearn of Lowell, MA and Linna O'Hearn and her partner John Londono of Woburn; seven grandchildren Jack and Nora O'Hearn of Wilmington, MA Madison and Payton O'Hearn of Lowell, MA Brendan and Colleen O'Hearn of Charlestown, MA and Mason Londono of Woburn; her brother Thomas Tighe and his wife Lina of Towson, MD; her brother-in-law John O'Hearn and his wife Veronica of Knoxville, TN;  a sister in-law Marion O’Hearn of Lowell MA; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Monday morning December 13, 2021, at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 144 East Merrimack St. in Lowell from 9 to 10:45 A.M. followed by her Funeral Mass in church at 11 o'clock. I was saddened and shocked to find out about the passing of Mrs. O’Hearn, gone too soon! There are great memories I have of Mrs. O’Hearn and Mrs. McDonnell in the library when I was a LHS student. The two of them were very encouraging, loving, supportive and welcoming towards their students, especially the regulars of the library. Lowell High took a major loss when the two of them left. I had already graduated at the time but remember feeling disappointed when finding out about their departures. They both added something special to the LHS community. It was also fun interacting with Mrs. O’Hearn at Lowell High athletic events. My sincerest condolences to her family and dear friends; she will be missed. Peace and blessings to all, Ken O.
