Leonard R. “ Len ” Richards, 91, of Nashua, NH and Indian Rocks Beach FL and long time resident of Chelmsford MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of the late Claudette J. (Clermont) Richards.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, August 19, 1930, the son of the late Joseph E. and the late Catherine F. (O’Boyle) Richards, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

He went on to attend Lowell Technological Institute (now known as U/Mass Lowell).

A veteran of the Korean War, Len proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

Len owned and operated Standard Automotive in Lowell, Lawrence and Nashua, NH for over 30 years. In addition, he was previously the Co-Owner of Richards Auto Supply in Lowell.

A hard worker, dedicated to his business, Len had another passion as a private pilot and a member of the A.O.P.A. (Aircraft Owner and Pilot’s Assn.).

Len is survived by five children Leonard R. Richards and his wife Nancy of Chelmsford, Jay M. Richards and his wife Pamela of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Maryanne Mercier of Amherst, NH, Robert P. Richards and his wife Lisa of Lowell and James L. Richards and his wife Suk of Hanover, MA; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four in-laws Bob and Kathy Clermont, Lucille Dillon and Carol Richards; many nieces and nephews.

He was also the father-in-law of the late Raymond E. Mercier; great grandfather of the late Logan; and brother of the late Edward, Robert, James and Leo Richards and the late Catherine Grey.
