Andre J. “Andy” Coleman

Beloved Father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend;



Andre J. “Andy” Coleman, 79, of Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 9, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.

He was the loving husband for 47 years of the late Patricia A. (McMillian) Coleman who died in 2016 and whom he still misses dearly.

Born in Lowell, MA, on December 9, 1942, the son of the late Walter and the late Grace (Chateauneuf) Coleman, Andy attended the Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School. He continued his education at Newbury College.

Andy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and received the National Defense service medal.

Prior to his retirement, Andy worked as a supervisor for the Missile Defense Department at Raytheon Corporation, in the Lowell and Andover plants, for over 40 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 63 in Salem, New Hampshire.

Andy had a smile that lit up a room. He spent his final years in Tyngsborough, spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Over the course of his life Andy enjoyed many trips and activities with family and friends highlighted by his trip to Ireland with his wife and two daughters.

He liked going to the beach with his wife Patti, camping and playing cribbage with his siblings, children, nieces and nephews, and playing golf during his retirement. He took great pride in cooking his French white beans, making his green pea soup and his famous barley soup.

Andy also enjoyed listening to his favorite shows on WCAP and WRKO radio each morning, watching Patriots games with family and his favorite horror movies.

He is survived by two daughters: June Coleman-Menezes and her husband Colin of Menezes of Pepperell, MA, Julie O’Malley and her husband Stephen of Tyngsborough, MA; six grandchildren Maya, Miles, Blake, and Lucie Menezes and Eiley and Shannah O’Malley; two sisters Nancy Theroux and her husband Norman of Lowell, MA, and Carol King of Dracut, MA; two brothers Gerald Coleman and his wife Candy of Salem, NH, and Danny Coleman and his wife Gail of Salem, NH; and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He was the brother of the late Normand Coleman, Richard Coleman, Kathleen Doyle, and Lorraine Daniels. He is also pre-deceased by his two best friends, his brother-in-law Tom King, and his cousin Richard “Butchy” Couture.
