Mary Elizabeth (McManmon) Mulvaney

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother,

Mary Elizabeth (McManmon) Mulvaney, recently of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away Tuesday, June 20th at the age of 81 after living with Parkinson’s disease and other ailments for many years. She was married to her loving husband of 49 years, James Norbert Mulvaney until his passing in 2015.

Mary was born in Boston and raised in Dracut, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Francis P. and the late Dorothy T. (Horgan) McManmon. She graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro and Emmanual College with a teaching degree.

She taught in the Dracut school system, several preschools, and later worked for American Greetings. Mary and her family lived in Chicago, Rome, GA, Virginia Beach, and Florence, SC along their journey, but her heart was always in Massachusetts.

Playing bridge, reading, bowling, and needlework—including knitting an untold number of personalized Christmas stockings for family members—were favorite hobbies. Mary was very proud of her Irish Catholic heritage and family, and did extensive genealogical research of the McManmon, Horgan, and Mulvaney families long before the Internet made such things simpler.

Mary is survived by her four children and their spouses, Elizabeth A. Mulvaney and her husband Christopher Ramsey of Pittsburgh, PA, Timothy J. Mulvaney and his wife Andrea of Richmond, VA, Kathleen M. Mulvaney and her husband Andrew Feller of Arlington, MA, and Shawn P. Mulvaney and his wife Rebecca of Washington D.C.; seven grandchildren Jamie, Abigail, Bronwyn, Dorothy, Benjamin, Tabitha, and William; her beloved  brother Frank P. McManmon of Dracut, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST in LOWELL from 4pm to 7pm Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 29 at ST. FRANCIS CHURCH in DRACUT at 10 o’clock. Burial to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell.
