Dear Donna, Luke and Cassie, we are so sad to hear of your husband/dad passing.
Robert W. “Bob” Bennett |
Robert W. “Bob” BennettBeloved husband, father, brother, and uncle;
Bob, 61, of Dracut Massachusetts, passed away on Wednesday June 14, 2023, due to complications from Diabetes.
Born in Beech Grove Indiana on April 17, 1962, he was the son of the late Morris E. and the late Margaret L. (Unger) Bennett.
At a young age, he moved with his family to Owentown, Texas, where he attended the Winona School System.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Navy until he was Honorably Discharged in 1984.
In 1985, he moved to Massachusetts to be with his future bride, Donna I. (Gagnon) Bennett. They celebrated 36 years of marriage on April 18th of this year.
Over the years, he was a CDL truck driver for various companies. In recent years he drove a medical van where he truly connected with his clients, who brought out his generous and compassionate nature.
In addition to his wife, Donna, who he was grateful to for putting up with him all these years, he leaves his two children. Bob was very proud of his son’s, Luke Bennett of Hudson NH, volunteer work for disaster relief and his work with Habitat for Humanity. He admired his daughter’s, Cassie Bennett of Lowell MA, free–spirit approach to life and their shared love for animals; they never met a dog they didn’t like. Bob also leaves behind his loyal companions – “good girl” Winnie, Buddy, Bitty Bumble the kitty and his red rocking chair by the front porch, where he sat most afternoons greeting those walking by and particularly their dogs.
He also leaves his brother Bradley Bennett and his wife Jojo of Springfield VA, several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and his family in Indiana.
He was a quiet man with a dry sense of humor, who enjoyed woodworking and built a few beautiful pieces for their home.
Bob enjoyed nothing more than lending a helping hand, or a tool, to his Malwood Avenue neighbors and mowing a lawn or snow blowing when needed. He will surely be missed.
We will be forever grateful to our neighbors Brian, Carlos, Hazel, and Italia for all their support this past month.
At his request, services will be held privately for the family. E-condolences/directions at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com.
