Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother

Daniel R. “Danny” Larocque, 59, Retired Deputy Police Superintendent of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Katie (Collins) Larocque, of Lowell, MA, who survives him.
Born in Lowell, MA, July 10, 1964, the son of the late John J. Sr. and the late Judith A. (Donnelly) Larocque, he attended St. Patrick Grammar School and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. Danny received his Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Western New England College in 1998, and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England College in 1999.
Deputy Larocque began his career with the Lowell Police Department in 1994 after having served as a Tyngsborough Police Officer for five years. Deputy Larocque received a number of commendations and citations throughout his career and was a highly respected mentor to numerous officers and supervisors. He was appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police on March 17, 2019, and retired in 2021. Following his retirement from the Lowell Police Department he became the Assistant Director of Public Safety and Captain for the Endicott College Department of Public Safety and Police.
Danny also earned a certificate in Public Safety Leadership and Management from Suffolk University in 2009 and completed the Alcoholism/Substance Abuse Counseling Program at Middlesex Community College in 2016. He completed several professional development trainings, including the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police. Deputy Superintendent Larocque received the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association Trilogy Award in 2015.
Deputy Larocque was a former member of the Board of Directors, of the Boys and Girls Club of Lowell, the Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School and was the former President of the Friends of Lowell High School. He was also a longtime Chief "Griller" for the Lowell High School Football and Crew teams.
Besides his wife Katie, Danny is survived by four children: Dan P. Larocque, Lowell Police Officer Chrissy A. Larocque and her boyfriend Patrick Doherty, Jackie R. Larocque, and James T. Larocque; his beloved grandson Danny M.A. Larocque; a sister Beth Larocque; two brothers John J. Larocque Jr. and his wife Kathleen, and David W. Larocque all of Lowell, MA; two brothers-in-law, Gerry Collins and his wife Amy of Boca Raton, Florida, John Collins and his wife Valerie of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was also the brother of the late Kevin Larocque.
Friends may call at the  O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET STREET, LOWELL on Monday July 17, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Tuesday morning July 18, 2023, at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH in Lowell at 11:00 A.M.
