Richard Mangiavas
Richard "Papou" Mangiavas, a kind and gentle man, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 17, 1951, in Lowell, MA, to the late George and the late Xanthe “Pat” Mangiavas.
Richard attended North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth, Maine, and later earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan.
He dedicated his career to ensuring excellence in his field, serving as the Director of Quality and Compliance for Dupont, Bristol-Myers and Lantheus in Billerica, MA.
On July 4, 2010, Richard married the love of his life, Rae, on a beautiful summer day filled with love, family, and joy. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home, cherishing every moment spent together.
Richard was an active and energetic man, embracing life with enthusiasm. He found joy in working in his beautifully maintained yard, vacationing at the beach with his wife, grandchildren, and family, and staying active at the gym multiple times a week. He also loved golfing with his son-in-law Dan and chasing after his beloved grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Rae, his stepdaughter Ashley and her husband Dan, and their four wonderful children, Raela, Isla, Annie, and JoJo, whom he adored.
He is also the loving brother of Pamela Mangiavas and the late Diedra Mangiavas Wolfe, who passed in 2024.
Richard’s presence brought warmth and love to everyone around him. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service to be held on Tuesday March 18, 2025, at the HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY 62 Lewis Street in LOWELL, MA at 10 o’clock. His Committal Services will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell. At his wishes, there will be no calling hours. E-condolences/directions at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com.
