Steven A. Byam
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle;

Steven A. Byam, 69, of Dracut, Massachusetts, passed away Saturday March 8, 2025, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of Gail R. (Totton) Byam who predeceased him on January 14th of this year.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, October 11, 1955, the son of the late Arthur and the late Ruth (Hamel) Byam, he attended Chelmsford schools and was a graduate of Chelmsford High school in the class of 1973. Steven went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lowell (nka UMass Lowell).

Steven worked as a mechanical engineer with Next Computing in Nashua, NH, and was previously employed by Avid Technology and Wang Laboratories.

Among his many interests, Steven enjoyed hiking, camping, outdoor activities, Boston sports teams, but mostly cherished the time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Gregg T. Byam and his wife Kelley of Dracut, MA; four grandchildren, Sarah Abdulla, Lauren Byam, Charis Carroll, and Zachary Byam; three sisters, Sherry Loiselle and her husband Andrew of Merrimack, NH, Sandra Jarry and her husband David of Dunstable, MA, and Sharon Byam of Chelmsford, MA; a dear friend, Patricia Kelly of Dover, NH, and several nieces and nephews.
Steven was the father of the late Kirk C. Byam and the grandfather of the late Michael “Mikey” Carroll.

Friends may call for a Memorial Visitation at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:15 A.M. with a Memorial Service to follow in the funeral home at 11:30 A.M.     I hired a young direct care worker who turned out to be my best and all time favorite- Kirk Byam! I never knew he was my former classmates son!! Kirk spoke about his wonderful parents! Such a small world! Kirk died sadly several years ago and now I am sorry to learn about Steve. He appeared to have lived a fine life!
