
Brenden J. Keegan
Brenden J. Keegan, 94, of Lowell, passed away on Friday March 14, 2025, in Lowell surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Frances A. (Geary) Keegan who died in 2009. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 14, 1930, the son of the late Patrick J. and the late Susan A. (Ralls) Keegan, he attended the Morey School, then Holy Angels College for Oblates in Buffalo, NY, before returning to Lowell and graduating from Keith Academy.
Beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather who deeply loved his family. There wasn't a kids event he didn't attend throughout New England. Whether it was lacrosse, hockey, gymnastics, baseball, softball, track, basketball, volleyball, dance or diving — he was always there to cheer on his grandchildren.
A veteran of the Korean War, Brenden proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force.
Prior to his retirement, Brenden was a technical writer with Raytheon Corporation for over 35 years. After his retirement, he was the equipment manager for the sports programs at UMass Lowell for several years.
Brenden was an accomplished artist. He enjoyed photography but his love was pen and ink. He has inked almost every lighthouse on the Northeast Coast. Brenden won best in show for one of his pieces at the Whistler House in Lowell, which offered him the opportunity to have an exhibit of all his artwork.
A devout Catholic and a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, he was one of the supporting families who raised money to build the Immaculate Conception School building in 1964. Additionally, he was a member the Holy Name Society, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the former Men’s Guild.
Brenden is survived by three daughters: Deborah A. Guinee and her husband Kevin of Gloucester; Brenda M. O Keefe and her husband Stephen of Lowell; and Kathleen K. Cote and her husband Dan of Lowell; 11 grandchildren: Brenden and his wife Annie Guinee; Timothy and his wife Kayleigh Guinee; Madeline Guinee and Patrick Guinee; Abigail O’Keefe, Lauren O’Keefe, and Julia O’Keefe; Kaileen and her husband Logan Halladay; Molly Cote, Patrick Cote, and Keegan Cote; 5 great grandchildren: Timothy Jr., Eloise, Aida, and Saoirse Guinee, and Jack Halladay; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Patricia Bennett and Maureen O’Neil.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL, MA from 4 to 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday morning at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH in Lowell at 11:00 AM followed by his Committal Services at St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury.
