To my nieces and nephews, my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mother. If there is one thing I can recall immediately, it is that she always held the five of you (and not in a particular order!) first, foremost, and deeply in her heart. Take solace in knowing she is now with God.

Carleen A. (Smith) Abreu Carleen A. (Smith) Abreu, 86, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and sister, died peacefully of a brief illness with her loving family by her side.She was the daughter of Walter and Lillian (Higgins) Smith, the mother of five children, David W. Abreu of New Hampshire, Mary van Eldik and her husband Machiel of Fort Mill South Carolina. Caroline Abreu and her husband Stephen Duarte of West Newbury MA, Christopher T. Abreu of Dracut, and (The Favorite) James D. Abreu and his wife Sonia (Levesque) Abreu of of Tyngsboro MA. She is survived by a sister Maura L. Wilson of New Mexico. Preceded in death by her brothers John Smith and Robert Smith, sisters Delores Walsh and Donna Sweeney. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, grand-daughter Anneke (van Eldik) Laney and her husband Caleb and their two children Felix and Hayden of Fort Mill South Carolina. Grandsons, James A. Abreu, and Brian D. Abreu of Tyngsboro. She was also loved and admired by many nieces and nephews.In accordance with her wishes, services will be held privately.
