Eileen Marie O’Flahaven

One Year Ago, Today, 12/10/2022

With her lifelong partner by her side, Eileen O’Flahaven passed away peacefully in Burlington, MA on December 10, 2022, following a twenty-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  Born on August 31, 1947, and raised in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Mortimer Michael and Mary Martha (Butler) O’Flahaven, and lived 53 years with her life-partner, Kevin Michael O’Brien.

Eileen attended St. Patrick’s Grammar School and graduated from Lowell High School in 1965. She went on to work at Model Cities where she met Kevin, the love of her life. She moved on to work in the Guidance Dept at the Greater Lowell Vocational Technical School for many years until her fight with Parkinson's Disease forced her to retire. She and Kevin lived for a few years in Dracut, MA before moving to their permanent home in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell.

Eileen and Kevin shared a passion for playing golf. After retiring, they spent their summers in Killington VT enjoying the courses there and the VT lifestyle. Despite her progressive Parkinsons disease, she hit three holes-in-one – an accomplishment that made them both proud! They enjoyed traveling together, taking a year to drive cross country throughout the US and Canada with their camper and motorcycle, sharing many adventures. Eileen also enjoyed traveling with her sister Sheila and her husband Bill Foulds to Europe including trips to France, Italy, and the especially memorable playing golf in Ireland. In later years Eileen became involved with the Senior Center in Dracut, taking lessons in Tai Chi and art and enjoying the friendships she made there. Drawing and painting became a pleasurable pass time.

Besides her life-partner Kevin, Eileen is survived by three sisters and their families: Sheila M. Foulds and her husband William of North Andover, MA; Dorothy Horne and her husband Joseph of Las Vegas, NV; Maura Marion and her husband Ken of Chelmsford MA. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Brian W. Foulds and his wife Pamela of Concord, MA; Katherine M. (Foulds) Barnett and her husband Matthew of North Andover, MA; and Amy (Horne) Hickey and her husband Chris of Las Vegas NV, and several grand nieces and nephews, her O’Brien family and many friends. She is predeceased by her brother, William Michael O’Flahaven of Florida.

Funeral Services will be private. E-condolences at www.odonnellfuneralhome. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (www.michaeljfox.org) in Eileen’s name would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements by the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME – Lowell - MA (978) 458-8768.

  • Mary Fusconi  - Wonderful Person - RIP Eileen
Eileen was a wonderful person. She was always so nice to me growing up, even though I was her little sister's friend. She would take us for rides in her car and was always smiling. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences go out to all the O'Flahaven's - a great Acre family.
  • Shane and Noelle  - Prayers for Eileen.

She was one in a million. We all loved her. I hope you can find some peace in the coming year . With love.
  • Dorothy O’Flahaven  - Sister
The two of us were thick as thieves growing up on Cross St We looked so much alike that on Saturday date night, she would send me to the door to answer and get a reaction from her dates thinking I was her. We chuckled over that. Not sure how her dates felt I remember she took me shopping for my prom dress. Bought and paid for by her Then there was her 1970 triumph sports car she generously lent to me while on her Saturday night dates And can’t forget that thanksgiving in phoenix az in 1977. Just kids who had no idea how to cook a turkey So many laughs that holiday The O’Flahavens were the “Waltons” way back then Thanks for those very very long ago memories Until we meet again, happy trails.
