Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt

 

Frances G. (Rigs) Pappas, R.N., 98, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday February 26, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA after a brief illness.

She was the loving wife of the late Leonidas Pappas.

Born in Lowell, MA, November 25, 1925, the daughter of the late George and the late Evelyn (Manteas) Rigs, she attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

She then went on to attend St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, and later the New York Polyclinic Medical School.

Prior to her retirement, Frances worked as a Registered Nurse and the Chief operation room supervisor at Nashua Memorial for 12 years. Most recently, she was at Tewksbury Hospital for 18 years.

In addition, Frances was also the owner and operator of the McKinnis Nursing home in Nashua, New Hampshire.

A long time member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society of the Transfiguration Church, she was a Life Member of the Mass Nurses Association, she was also a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses.

Amongst her many enjoyments, Frances had a great love for animals and was an avid walker and reader. She also volunteered in the kitchen at the Middlesex Shelter for 22 years.'

Frances is survived by three sons: Leonidas Pappas Jr. of Lowell, MA, Paul Pappas of Windham, NH, and Stephen Pappas and his wife Stephanie of Nashua, NH; two grandchildren Melissa Pappas and Nicole (Pappas) Ayotte and her husband Lee; a sister Angie Rigs of Lowell, MA; a sister-in-law Alexandra Rizos of Hollis, NH, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Michael Rigs and the late Reverand Peter Rizos.
