M. Alan Webb

Veteran U.S. Marines, Korean Conflict;

M. Alan Webb, age 85, of Lowell died peacefully on Sunday August 30, 2020 at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell.

Alan was born in Morriston, NJ on April 16, 1934, to Ruby and Milton Webb.

He worked for GTE for many years and was able to travel the world to the Philippines, Costa Rica, and Israel where he met his wife.  Sarit came to USA and they were married for over 29 years. Sarit passed away in 2016 due to cancer and left behind a daughter Marina Milucci of Florida.

A resident of Lowell Mass. Alan is survived by his two adult children Debra (Webb) Gilbert and Mark Webb and his wife Lijun Xia from China. He has 2 adult grandchildren Ashley Rose Gilbert of Billerica and Jimmy D. Gilbert Jr.  of Lowell and 2 great grandchildren McKenzie Holak and Carter Gilbert.

He was 1 of 3 siblings. Jean Hill, his sister passed in 2002 and his brother Donald is whereabouts unknown. He is also survived by his niece Nancy Lawson and her husband Ken and his nephew Ken and many great nephews and nieces.     

      Alan loved to golf and was a member of the Nabnasset Lake Country Club in the 70’s and some part of the 80’s before moving to Hudson, Florida. There he did some part-time shuttle work and airport runs. He worked out at the gym and walked 1 mile every day. He enjoyed fishing and going to Las Vegas with his wife.

       On Saturday September 12, 2020, his children will be having a Celebration of Life at Debbie’s house, outside if it is nice. Edward J. “Eddie” Walsh

 
Retired longtime Commissioner of Public Works,

 
Edward J. “Eddie” Walsh, 92, a well-known and loved local business owner and former City of Lowell Commissioner of Public Works, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 20, 2020 after a brief illness.
 
A longtime resident of the Highlands, he was the loving husband for over 48 years of the late Rosemary W. (Billingsley) Walsh and the beloved longtime partner of Barbara Kager of Dracut, who survives him.
 
Ed was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 5, 1927, a son of the late Edward and the late Annie (McNulty) Walsh.
 
A veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.
 
Growing up he worked in his family’s Asphalt Paving Business and Uncle’s Greenhouse Business. Following the War, he came back to Lowell and made the decision to joined his family at James Walsh and Sons Asphalt Paving, started by his late grandfather in the late 1800’s, where he remained the owner and operator for over 40 years until his retirement in 1992.
 
A highly respected businessman, Ed later joined the City of Lowell Department of Public Works as its Commissioner where he remained for over 16 years until his retirement in 2008. Over that time, Ed helped oversee the infrastructure of several key development projects for the City.
 
“Eddie”, as he was fondly referred to by his legion of friends and family, always had a great smile and a warm hello when he saw you and over his lifetime was extremely generous in helping others, especially with his time and effort. Always kind and genuine, his name was synonymous with the expression “great guy”.
 
An accomplished skier who loved skiing, Eddie took ski trips all around the world, including the Swiss and Italian Alps. He had a second home in Lincoln, NH and was a regular at Loon Mountain.
 
Eddie also loved to golf and was a longtime member, Past Director and Honorary Member of Mount Pleasant Golf Club.
 
He was also a former member, a Past Director and Past President of Vesper Country Club and was an over 30-year Corporator of the Lowell Five Cents Savings Bank.
 
Eddie was most happy when he was with his family, skiing, golfing, and socializing with his friends. He will truly be missed by many.
 
Besides his partner Barbara, he is survived by his daughter Deirdre Cahill and her partner Bill Gartner of Meredith, NH; his granddaughter Kaitlyn Cahill of Chicago, IL; his daughter-in-law Mary (Wittenhagen) Walsh of Beverly; three step grandchildren Caitlyn Landry, Terry and Jason Waldron; and many nieces and nephews.
 
He was also the father of the late Edward J. Walsh, III and the brother of the late Rita Walsh Quigley.
 
Due to Covid 19 restrictions a Private Graveside Service took place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Wednesday September 2, 2020. A Celebration of Life Memorial is planned for 2021 with all his family and friends. E-condolences at

William J. “Bill” Wilson

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather,



William J. “Bill” Wilson, 91, a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, passed away peacefully Saturday August 29, 2020 at the Westford House in Westford. He was the loving husband for over 61 years of Leocadia M. (Wojcik) Wilson, who survives him.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, March 20, 1929, a son of the late Ernest F. and the late Agnes C. (Kiernan) Wilson, he attended St. Michael’s Grammar school and was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1948.

A veteran of the Korean War, Bill was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp.

Prior to his retirement, he was a supervisor for Verizon (formerly known as N.E. Telephone, Nynex and Bell Atlantic) where he worked for over 35 years.

A longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish then becoming a communicant St. Margaret of Scotland Church, where he served as a eucharistic minister of his parish.

Bill was a longtime member of Mount Pleasant Golf Club, the Lowell Lodge of Elks # 87, The Mustard Seed Communities and the Friday Night Card Players.

He also was a coach of 2002 Shedd Park baseball travel team that was the first to compete at Dreams Park in Cooperstown New York.

Besides his wife Laura, Bill is survived by three children, Laurie M. Guay and her husband Pierre of the North End, Boston, William J. Wilson and his partner Alison Claffey of Pepperell and LeeAnn Wilson of Lowell; eight grandsons Pierre W. Guay and his partner Kelley Austin, Martin J. Guay and his fiancée Molly Mus, Michael F. Guay, William J. Wilson, Matthew P. Wilson and his partner Shannon Fisher, Ryan D. Wilson, Joseph D. Wilson and Jonathan C. Ross; a great granddaughter Addison R. Guay; his in-laws Barbara Ryan of Hudson, NH, Carl Wohlford of St. Augustine, FL and Judith Wilson of Maryville, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Sister Mary Agnes Wilson, the late M. Constance Wilson, the late Ernest F. Wilson, Jr., the late Joan Wohlford and the late Gerald T. Wilson.

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 7 P.M. on Wednesday September 2, 2020. (All state required social distancing procedures will be observed including the wearing of masks upon entrance into the Funeral Home). Loving mother; grandmother, great grandmother and sister;



Josephine E. (Kloppenburg) Bernier, 61, of Lowell died Wednesday July 29, 2020 at Lowell General Hospital.

She was the wife of James Bernier.

Born in Medford, Massachusetts, May 15, 1959, a daughter of the late William and the late Lillian (Uttaro) Kloppenburg, she enjoyed camping and the outdoors.

Prior to her retirement, she was a phlebotomy technician for several years.

Besides her husband, Josephine is survived her daughter Lillian E. Potter of Lowell; two sons Albert M. Potter and his wife Isabel of Lowell and Neil E. Sorensen and his wife Kristy of Pelham, NH; ten grandchildren Tyler, Justin, Kelsi and her husband Chris, Tristan, Austin, Mia, Neil, David, Nathan and Paul; four great grandchildren Jaxson, Tristan, Jr., Rosalise and Elliot; a sister Lillian Michalczyk of Dracut; two brothers William Kloppenburg and Louis Kloppenburg both of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
