Thomas I. Leavitt, Jr.


Beloved brother, uncle and friend;



Thomas I. Leavitt Jr. of Saco, Maine, formerly of Lowell, MA, passed away Friday March 26, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, September 26, 1952, the son of the late Thomas I Leavitt, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Murphy) Leavitt, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1970.

Tom is survived by his sisters Mary Beth Leavitt of Saco, ME and Sheila (Leavitt) and her husband Marc Lauzon of Old Orchard Beach, ME; three brothers: Richard Leavitt and his wife Gail of Westborough, MA, Daniel Leavitt and his wife Patricia of Milton, MA and John Leavitt and his wife Sally of Saco, ME; his loving nieces and nephews: Ashley Caswell, Kaila Miller, Patrick Leavitt, Matthew Lauzon, Kelly Leavitt, Daniel Leavitt, Alexandra Leavitt and Hannah Leavitt; his great nieces and nephews and also his many wonderful friends with whom he looked forward to spending time.

He was also the brother of the late James Patrick Leavitt.

Tom worked at Avco/Textron as a CDL truck driver and as a Foreman at Lowell Lumber.

He loved all the New England sports teams especially the Red Sox and the Patriots.   He was a proud champion of the much coveted annual “Leavitt Family Pick Pool.” Tom was a lot of fun. He was positive, funny, non-judgmental and a listening-ear to all. The phrase most often said about him was “Tom is such a great guy” … and he was!  He hosted the annual family Christmas extravaganza which no one ever missed.

In his younger years, Tom thoroughly enjoyed his classic cars and going out fishing on his boat.

He will be sorely missed by so many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service to be held on Saturday April 3rd, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Lowell at 11 o'clock. Gerald F. Owens

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend;




Gerald F. "Bud" Owens, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Friday March 26, 2021, after a brief illness.

For over 40 years he was the loving husband of Kathleen M. (Shugrue) Owens, who survives him.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 18, 1953, the son of the late Gerald F. and the late Mary (Dawson) Owens, Sr. He attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School. Bud went on to graduate from U/Mass Lowell with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History.

Before his retirement in 2013, he was a meter reader for National Grid (and previously with Colonial Gas) for over 34 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers AFL-CIO Union, Local 12012.

Bud was a family man who always had his priorities straight and was happy enjoying the simplicities of life.  He especially loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  He took pride in guiding his grandchildren in life’s lessons at "Grandpa School".

He also enjoyed golfing with his sons, sitting on Wells Beach with family and friends, and traveling to Aruba.

Beside his wife Kate, he is survived by his two sons Kevin M. Owens and his wife Lisa (Cerroni) Owens of Haverhill and Timothy P. Owens and his wife Amsi (Morales) Owens of Chelmsford; four grandchildren Thomas G. Owens, Avery G. Owens, Casey H. Owens and Abigail M. Owens; two sisters Beverly Owens of Lowell and Judith Robinson of Seabrook, NH;  six niece and nephews John Callahan, Daniel Callahan, David Robinson, Justin Robinson, Meghan Sorensen and Patrick Sorensen; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL on Tuesday March 30, 2021 from 4 to 7 P.M. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at ST. MICHAEL CHURCH in Lowell at 10  o'clock (All state required social distancing procedures will be observed including the wearing of masks upon entrance into the Funeral Home and the church). Michael James Frawley



Beloved brother, uncle and friend;



Michael J. Frawley, 64 of Lynn, MA died on Friday, March 12, 2021.

Michael was born on May 13, 1956 in Boston Massachusetts, the son of the late Dr. Stephen M. and the late Ruth A. (Corey) Frawley. He grew up in Newton, MA and was a graduate of Newton High School, Class of 1974.

He went on to serve in the United States Navy and did a tour of duty in the Philippine Islands.

Michael was an active volunteer for the Salvation Army throughout the years and worked Kettle Duty during the Christmas Holidays to help those less fortunate.

An avid reader, and was a passionate fan of all Boston sports and especially loved to follow and watch his favorite team, the Boston Bruins whenever possible.

Michael was a loyal and loving brother to sisters, Maryanne of Hendersonville, NC., Patricia of Newcastle NH, and brothers Stephen of Cape Elizabeth, ME., Philip of Palentine, IL., Christopher of Suffield, CT., and David of Plano, TX.

He was also a dedicated uncle to 16 nieces and nephews, as well as several grand-nieces and nephews.

Michael was also predeceased by his son, Michael Corey Frawley.

The Family plans to intern Michael’s ashes at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lawrence, MA and host a Memorial gathering in the Summer of 2021. E-condolences at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com. David M. Purtell

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend;



David M. Purtell, 71, a member of a widely known Lowell family, passed away on March 18, 2021 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda (Richards) Purtell, also formerly from Lowell.

Born and raised in the Acre section of Lowell, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and the late Beverly M (Dyer) Purtell.

The Acre was where he made and maintained many lifelong friendships prior to moving to Dracut to raise his family. He attended St. Patrick’s grammar school and Lowell High School and was very active in Acre youth sports and later as a coach for many years with Dracut youth baseball.

Prior to his retirement, David worked as a laborer with Local 429 serving as the business manager for over 15 years.

Among his many interests he enjoyed spending summer months in York Maine.

Besides his wife, David is survived by his two sons David M. Purtell, Jr. and Daniel T. Purtell and his wife Katie all of Dracut; two grandsons Joseph and Nathan Purtell of Dracut; three sisters, Debra S. McCormick of Lowell, Barbara Purtell and her spouse Priscille of Dracut and Judith Sylvester and her husband Dewey of Pelham, NH; two brothers Wayne and Frederick J Purtell; and many nieces and nephews. David also leaves behind his special friends Stella and Bob McAuliffe.

He was also the brother of the late Thomas J. Purtell Jr. and the late Kevin Purtell.
