Barbara A. (Zunka) Flaherty

Beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and aunt;

Barbara A. (Zunka) Flaherty, 97, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 27, 2023, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.

She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Flaherty, Sr.

Born in Lowell, MA, on January 10, 1926, the daughter of the late John and the late Julia (Greska) Zunka, she was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1943 and was a Lieutenant with the LHS Girl Officers. Later, she attended Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, Class of 1945.

Prior to her retirement, Barbara worked as a Technician at UMASS Lowell for over 20 years.

Barbara is survived by three children: John J. “Jay” Flaherty, Jr. and his wife Mary of Tewksbury, MA, Lee Flaherty of Lowell, MA, Kerry Scott and her husband David of Chelmsford, MA; four grandchildren Kelly (Flaherty) Wall and her husband Michael of Methuen, MA, Patrick Flaherty of Tewksbury, MA, Laura (Scott) Nordengren and her husband Conor of Littleton, MA, Ellery (Scott) Colliton and her husband Patrick of Georgetown, MA; six great-grandchildren Sean, Rylee, Nolan, Grace, Rose and Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Patricia J. Flaherty and the sister of the late John Zunka.

Lewis Thomas Koravos

Lewis Thomas Koravos peacefully passed on September 2nd, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Lewis was born on July 15, 1948, in Lowell Massachusetts to the late Thomas and the late Stella (Martakos) Koravos. Lewis and his sister, Olivia, grew up in Andover, Massachusetts helping at the family business, Ford’s Coffee Shop and Lewis quarterbacking for the Andover High School Football Team.

After graduating in the class of 1967, Lewis threw himself into the social movements and music scene of the late 60s - witnessing some of the seminal rock performances of Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin and the Holding Company, Jefferson Airplane and culminating in Woodstock 1969.

Lewis moved to Lake Forest, Illinois following his marriage to Ann Strenger in 1970 and entered the Strenger family plumbing and heating business and its offshoot, Perfection Equipment. He travelled to every state in the Union and extensively through Latin America and the Middle East with Perfection.

Lewis met Lori LeNoble in 1980 and they were married from 1986 to 1991. They lived together in Knollwood, Illinois, travelling and spending time in Florida while Lewis continued working for Perfection and Lori in the film industry. Facilitated by Lori, Lewis famously played a paramedic alongside Chuck Norris in the film Code of Silence.

Latterly, Lewis gave himself up to his love of cars and started North Shore 41 Auto Sales followed by Best Buy Auto in North Chicago, which he ran until 2018. For several years Lewis and his daughters ran an eventful, seasonal fireworks stand as an ingenious way to put his youngest daughter through college.

In 1997 Lewis met Debra Richardson and they resided together in Wadsworth, Illinois. Debra’s son, Dallas Richardson, was his solid carer and companion through the final months of his life.

To everyone who knew Lewis, they may remember him as Lewe or Lou or Louie. Many remember him as charismatic and a larger-than-life character who endeared himself to everyone. He embraced people from all walks of life and was a committed part of AA for over 30 years sponsoring over 100 people, helping make sure they had a friend and someone on their side. He was incredibly forgiving and regularly voiced that everyone deserved happiness despite their flaws and mistakes in life.

Lewis was a much loved and now a sorely missed member of the Koravos Family, the Sintros Family, the Strenger Family, the LeNoble Family and the Richardson Family.

He is survived by his three children Jessica Koravos, Elizabeth Koravos, Brendan Koravos and his five grandchildren Alexander O’Donovan, Scarlett O’Donovan, Olympia Koravos Jokat , Zachery and Sofia Koravos and his great grandchild Aubrie Koravos. He is also survived by sister Olivia Sintros and brother-in-law Spiros Sintros and his nephews Michael, Steven and Christopher Sintros and their families as well as by his Aunt Mary Koravos and many cousins.

Relatives and friends may attend his Visitation on Monday September 18, 2023, at the TRANSFIGURATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 25 FR. JOHN SARANTOS WAY in LOWELL from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. followed by his Funeral Service in the Church at 11 o’clock. Burial to follow at the West Parish Cemetery in Andover. Raymond C. Leighton

Beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle;

Raymond C. Leighton, 81 years old, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away July 18, 2023 at his home in Lowell.

He was the beloved husband of the late Maureen (O'Connor) Leighton who died in 1974 and the late Francine (Hamm) Leighton, who died in the year 2017.

Born in Lowell, MA, December 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Raymond and the late Glenda (McAllister) Leighton. He attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School. Raymond served his country in the United States Air Force during Peace Time.

Prior to his retirement, Raymond worked as a Park Ranger for the National Park Service in Lowell, MA, where he was stationed at the Gatehouses on the Canals and Park Service parking lots. Previously, Raymond worked for the F.D.I.C. in Liquidation and was a Loan Officer at the former Union National Bank.

Among his many interests, he enjoyed golf, tennis at Northmeadow Tennis Club in his younger years, and was a long-standing member of the East End Club. He loved summers spent at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire, and spending time with his family.

Raymond is survived by a daughter Kelly Leighton Cherry and her husband Frederick of Marblehead MA; a son Corey Leighton and his wife Jennifer or Leominster, MA; two grandchildren Margaret Leighton and Connor Leighton of Leominster, MA; two sisters Janice Renaud and Carol Riopelle both of Dracut, MA; two brothers John Leighton of NH and Gary Leighton of Dracut, MA. He is survived by his stepson, Dan Chasse and his wife Jessica of Dracut, MA, and his stepdaughter Diane Jean and her husband Kevin of Pelham, NH, and several step-grandchildren.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved dog, Lucy.

He was the brother of the late Richard Leighton.

Vincent J. Parent

Beloved brother, uncle, and grand-uncle;

Vincent J. Parent, 78, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday August 25, 2023, at Regal Care at Lowell, in Lowell, MA.

Born in Lowell, MA, on August 11, 1945, the son of the late J. Herman and the late Mary F. (Wrenn) Parent, he attended St. Patrick Grammar School and was a graduate of Keith Academy in the Class of 1963. Vincent went on to graduate from Merrimack College in the Class of 1967.

Vincent proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
